| How
we got started... |
The first portion of the farm was purchased in 1946 by the
Pippins. Their youngest daughter was born at home on the farm.
Who would have dreamed that she, along with her children would buy the
land joining Pa & Ma in 1986 and 1996. Momma built a log home
and by the year 2000, the rest of the family was living on the farm
also.
They raised 1 acre of freshwater shrimp in 2001 -- not much luck there!
|
One of them had the idea of a catfish pay lake. The rest
had never heard of a pay lake. They were going to sell Beanie Weanies,
crackers, RC cola's, and Moon Pies from their snack bar and have a bait
and tackle shop. But what's a snack bar without fish? So they
started cooking their fresh farm-raised catfish. All the family pitched
in -- Mom, always being a great cook, became the cook and dessert
maker.
The snack bar had all paper goods and four tables, right in the middle
of the tackle shop. Everyone from Pa & Ma down to the
great-grandchildren
all pitched in to help make it work.
|
They opened Twin Lakes Catfish Farm on March 15, 2002.
Within the first year they had added full hookup RV sites, a
camping/tent
area, a kiddie lake, catering services, and separated the food and
fishing.
In March 2003 they opened a full restaurant with a seating capacity of
50-60 with real dishes and tables.
|
In 2003 they built a second building
to house the bait, tackle and fishing supplies, supplying live bait
(goldfish,
crawfish, minnows and shiners) along with numerous other baits for
sale.
The lakes are stocked weekly, keeping a base of 15,000-20,000 pounds of
catfish in the lakes. No license is needed to fish here. You
can "keep all you catch" or "catch and release." Weekly open fishing
tournaments are held every Saturday night from April through September with the Tournament of Champions in October.
We also host group fishing and birthday parties.

"So come eat, fish and/or spend the night with us. Hang
in there with us as we grow. Who knows what the future holds besides
God? He has blessed us greatly!
|
We thank you and appreciate your
support.
Comments and suggestions are welcomed."

May God Bless You!
